- Montreal, Canada, Montreal – Primary filming location for battle sequences and sets. The majority of 300 was shot in Montreal's studio facilities, where elaborate sets of ancient Sparta were constructed and the slow-motion battle choreography was performed
- Rome, Italy, Rome – Second unit location photography for establishing shots and landscape backgrounds. Mediterranean and ancient Italian locations were used for background plates and landscape establishing shots to evoke the ancient Greek world
- Toronto, Canada, Toronto – Visual effects and additional filming. Toronto served as a secondary production hub where additional filming and post-production work took place for the film's extensive visual effects sequences
