Where was Zulu filmed?
- South Africa, Natal – The entire climactic battle sequence where British soldiers defend the mission station against Zulu warriors. The actual historical site of the 1879 Battle of Rorke's Drift was reconstructed and used for the film's main action sequences, providing authentic terrain for the siege warfare
- South Africa, Natal – Opening scenes establishing the British military camp and the soldiers' initial deployment. Locations in the KwaZulu-Natal region were used to film the British encampment and early military movements before the main battle
- South Africa, Durban – Scenes of British colonial military operations and administrative sequences. The major port city and colonial headquarters provided locations for scenes depicting British military command and colonial infrastructure
