Where was Mustang filmed?
- Istanbul, Turkey, Istanbul – The girls' house and neighborhood streets where much of the early story unfolds. The historic Balat district with its narrow streets and traditional wooden houses provided the authentic setting for the family home and surrounding community
- Istanbul, Turkey, Istanbul – Scenes of the girls at the waterside and the seaside sequences. The Golden Horn provides the picturesque waterfront setting where the girls are seen before their confinement begins
- Balıkesir, Turkey, Balıkesir – The uncle's house in the countryside where the girls are taken and confined. Rural locations in northwestern Turkey served as the isolated family compound where the majority of the film's claustrophobic middle and final acts take place
