- Bangkok, Thailand, Bangkok – Street scenes and marketplace sequences. Bangkok's distinctive architecture and street environments provided authentic locations for the film's exploration of Southeast Asian urban settings.
- Nepal, Kathmandu – Mountainous terrain and remote location sequences. Nepal's dramatic mountain landscapes were used to film sequences set in remote, rural areas that contrast with the urban Japanese setting.
